Original Art

I have been making clothing for myself and my family for many

years, as well as soaps and shampoo. I love the fact that it is original, and no one else is going to have the

same thing. Purchasing WAHM items is my way of helping others that have the same beliefs that I have. I started

selling the items that I made as a way to help pay for college and to offer unique homemade options to others.

Handmade Inspires Style

I love using handmade items. It lets me

know i am putting my child and other peoples children in chemical free, organic, and happily made items. I know

that my child will not be harmed and that other peoples children will not be harmed by the crazy stuff they put in

manufacturer made items! it makes me feel like a good mom and a good person!

OriginalsbyLauren's handmade inspiration

In this day and age of cheap, poorly made

imports, it is nice to know that handmade items are made with care. No matter where they come from, here or

abroad, artisans take pride in their work and you get a quality product.

Handmade has heart

Why do I buy handmade? There are so many reasons.

Handmade items have a heart and soul to them that you simply cannot get from a mass produced item. My children

love getting gifts and *knowing* who made them - they frequently call the items by their makers' names, such as

our Where's Waldorf doll named for its

creator, Rebecca, and all of our Count On It games

which are affectionately called simply "Lori games". I like knowing that the materials used in making the things

I buy are natural, will not have lead paint, etc. I also like knowing that my purchases support other women who

are staying home with their families or helping to support their families while doing something that truly

inspires them.

My family deserves the best

My venture into soapmaking began when my son was

diagnosed with severe eczema before he was 6 months old. We were able to determine that he had severe allergies

that were causing his outbreaks. My husband and I had made a commitment for me to be a full time caregiver to our

children, and while I was home with my preschool aged children I began researching ingredients to produce our own

soaps and skin care products. Our business was born of this research, and it has enabled me to be home with my

children full time, as well as my husband to join our business once he finished his enlistment with the military.

As a family we are committed to buying handmade products or products from small businesses whenever possible.

We believe in supporting family business and making it possible for other parents to be home with their children

as much as possible.
After all, our children deserve the best we can give them.
