When You Buy Handmade, You Help Preserve Traditional Handicraft

I am

inspired to buy handmade because I come from a family that has always valued handmade items. Through the

generations, we have had those who knit, crochet, sew, quilt, embroider, spin, weave, bake, can, create jewelry,

are metalsmiths, welders, and blacksmiths. Those traditional skills have been handed down through the generations

and have helped preserve them in a modern world that doesn't always see their worth.

I was taught to

embroider, crochet, and knit starting at the age of five and over the years, I've added more and more hobbies.

Some have remained as hobbies but making jewelry has become my business. It's nice to feel a connection to the

other metalworkers in my family all the way to the blacksmiths in the Appalachians and the welder who worked in

the shipyard during WWII.
